Twenty Nine

Scenes from Berlin: Fräulein Frost, Botanical Garden, Hamburger Bahnhof

Last week was my birthday, and rather than take a whirlwind vacation as we have in year’s past, TH and I decided instead to explore our newfound Berlin home with a set of fresh eyes. I planned an exciting weekend for us here, with a whole new set of things to explore as if we were just visiting for a few days. We had spectacular cocktails in the very sharp speakeasy Buck & Breck, a lovely dinner at the new modern Charlottenburg restaurant Glass, saw the eye-catching Hilma af Klint exhibit at the Hamburger Banhof museum, and wandered through the blooming Botanical Gardens. We also had a delicious lunch at Pauly Saal, a romantic dinner at Das Lokal, and a delicious brunch at Chipps. Tons of food—most of which I was too busy eating to snap with my camera—and we managed to fit in a number ice cream café visits, very delicious research for an article I did for Serious Eats, which publishes next week.

It was an action-packed, food-filled, wonderful way to start my last twenties year. I’m so excited to see what this year holds, and so happy to be in the great city of Berlin, which forces me to reach after my dreams more than ever, surrounds me with inspiration, and gives me a constant source of adventure. Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes, support, encouragement, and love and for helping to make my special day great!
